The Kaimai Retreat
Nestled on the edge of the Kaimai Range, only minutes from Katikati, this little holiday haven seems a world away. Surrounded by bush on four sides, panoramic views greet the birds sitting in the tree tops.
The getaway begins when you turn off the main road. A bush-clad gravel road leads you to the entry of this secluded site. A pivoting “drawbridge” folding down and over the driveway forms an impressive entry that is part of the adventure.
The most important connection out here is the one to the outdoors - it’s all about being in the bush. Extensive decking surrounds the interior space, blurring the line between inside and out and increasing the retreat’s liveable footprint. A swing bridge provides a playful link between the two building volumes and sidles up to old man Tawa.
This is the perfect spot... to stretch out on the day bed in the sun; to sit amongst the bush reading a book, to commune with the native birdlife; to contemplate the spectacular coastal views to the east; and to just simply RELAX.
Visual connections ensure that even when inside, you never lose that feeling of being in the bush. A retreat is exactly what this place will be: off -grid and blissfully disconnected from the world.
